Dan Buettner has made a
career exploring the world's extremes to promote
understanding and education. He has traversed five of the
earth's seven continents by bicycle, establishing himself as
the world's premier long distance cyclist. With the first
expedition MayaQuest (1995), Dan opened a new chapter in
modern-day exploration. Using cutting-edge satellite
communications and the Internet, he linked thousands of
schools and on-line adventurers to the world's top
archaeologists working in Central America. After leading two
more Maya-Quest expeditions, the AfricaQuest and Galapagos
Quests were added. Dan is the pioneer of these incredible
on-line collaborative journeys, where students worldwide
share in the decision making, the learning and sense of
adventure.
