These optional extended-time
hands-on workshops are offered at $35.00 or $55.00 each and you must be
registered to attend. You may register for two workshops, maximum, and
should enter your choices onright on your registration form. Workshop
participants must also be registered for the Institute.
Preconference workshops
have been added for Sunday, July 24, for topics requiring extra time.

Jason Everett, ESU 10
This workshop is designed to give you the basics for
building your own Manila theme. Using an HTML editor, you will create
a simple design as your theme, which will be transferred to the Manila
server and installed for all to use. We will go through all the steps
needed to create a new look for your school or organization with the
simplicity of Manila at the core. (Intermediate/Advanced, Cross-platform)

eLearning is not just a trend, but the future in education.
Almost sixty-five Nebraska school districts have been bitten by the
eLearning bug, with more to come. In this training session, we will
learn the fundamentals of the ANGEL Learning Management Software which
allows students 24/7 access to their learning material and how that
might be used to supplement your face-to-face course.

Learn the rudiments of using DreamWeaver MX 2004 to
construct a web page and site. An introduction to defining your site
will be followed with examples of creating layouts with tables, inserting
graphics, formatting text, importing Microsoft Word files, creating
tables from Excel spreadsheets and formatting those tables. Participants
will save a web page, upload it and look at a method for quickly developing
additional pages using the same layout and design elements. Participants
will be shown Dreamweaver’s use of Cascading Style Sheets to make
site management easier and built-in behaviors that make javascript actions

This extended length workshop will allow time to learn
the basics and lots of intermediate tips and tricks of digital photo
editing with Photoshop Elements from Adobe. This digital imaging software
provides much of the power of the full version of Photoshop in a simple,
creative, but less expensive package. Using digital photos, participants
will learn to do quick corrections; creative editing; combine images,
work with text, layers, filters and effects; and learn how to package
images for classroom projects like slideshows, scrapbooks and web galleries.
Linda’s training book will be available as an optional purchase
to participants for a significantly reduced price. (Beginning/Intermediate,

Lights, Camera, Action! Become the producer and director
of your home or school videos. Participants of this hands-on workshop
will use MovieMaker 2 (Windows XP) to edit prepared video clips, still
shots, and audio files to produce a multimedia presentation with transitions
and other effects. Attendees may bring their own digital video camera
with firewire cables and prerecorded video, but it is not required.
This extended length workshop gives participants more time than the
Tuesday (T05) MovieMaker workshop. (Intermediate, Windows)

Come and explore digital photo editing and graphics
creation in Photoshop Elements 3 (Mac). We’ll cover using and
editing digital photos, creating simple graphics, exporting in a variety
of formats, and what’s new in version 3. This workshop is for
anyone wanting to gain some hands-on time learning about photo editing.

web-development tool. Topics will include: designing your website, Manila
vocabulary, logging into your site, creating stories and shortcuts,

Learn how to make video stories using iMovie/iDVD.
After importing video from a digital camera, you can rearrange scenes,
add cuts, dissolves, and other transitions. You’ll also learn

This hands-on workshop will present the basics of working
with a handheld computer (Palm). The Palm Zire 71 will be used to show
software setup, basic operation of the handheld, and how to access the
numerous websites that allow the downloading of software. This workshop
is designed for the beginning user of handheld technology. Handhelds

This workshop will lead the participants through music
creation with the new software application GarageBand 2.0. This software
is a huge breakthrough for creating music for movies, multimedia presentations
etc. There are no prerequisites for the workshop, although some background

and professional development tool. Learn how to help English language
learners develop literacy skills by recording their reading selections,

What’s all this about Acrobat files and the .pdf
extension? Participants will learn to create portable document format
(.pdf) files with Adobe Acrobat software, including creating bookmarks,
thumbnails, links, annotations and forms. Using PDFs takes the guesswork
away from sending attachments or downloading documents from a web site
in a cross-platform environment. (Beginner/Intermediate, Cross-platform)

Workshop participants will learn many ways to combine
great handheld software with effective, meaningful activities that can
engage elementary and middle school students. Also, participants will
see many of the resources available on the Internet to support handheld-using

Searching strategies, including the use of keywords
and directories, will be shared. Participants will be introduced to
and practice Google advanced search techniques, including: +, -, or,
phrase, category, location, file type, and domain restriction searches.
Participants will also visit Google cached links, search for definitions,
and use these google functions: glossary, news alert, safe search filtering,
calculator, stock quotes, street maps, and who links to your web page.

This workshops will cover more basics of Manila, an
online web-development tool. Topics will include: creating html with
your word processor, building tables, adding gems, gathering stats,
plugins. These topics are a continuation of Monday’s Part I workshop.
Although the Part I workshop is not a prerequisite, participants will
want to have the skills described there before registering for Part
II.

and iDVD offer students amazing workspaces for creating and organizing
audio and visual ideas. As an integrated suite, iLife has a sum greater

experience that brings together the best of all of these tools. Prerequisites:
Proficient in working with Mac OS X. Some basic experience working with

Macromedia Flash MX 2004 is an excellent tool for creating
animations and interactive, engaging interfaces for the web. Learn the
basics of this powerful program and discover how you can add some pop

and the maximum number is 20.
- Any refunds for filled workshops will not be issued
until after the conference.
- "Waiting lists" will be created, and any open spaces
will be filled on a first-come-first-served basis.
- Deadline for pre-registration is is the same as the
conference pre-registration deadline. Only participants registering
before the deadline will receive confirmation by mail.
Workshop participants must also be registered
for the Institute.
